THE appeal of Swedish pop group Abba is so widespread that tribute band Abbalanche has added a show for all ages for its performance at Castle Hill RSL next month.
As Frida and Bjorn, Beaumont Hills married couple Lesley and Peter Watters make up half of the vocal group.
They are joined by Tamara Bunce as Agnetha, Bob Wheatley as Benny and instrumentalists Simon Tonx (bass guitar for Abba's Jurgen Dans) and Stanhope Gardens local Nic Pansini as the group's drummer, Hans Fallas.
They reproduce the Abba sound through impeccable harmonised vocals and musicianship.
Other details combine to make an impressive show.
There are the dazzling costumes similar to Abba's and the expertly crafted Swedish accents the four vocalists use as part of their act and which they call ``Swenglish''.
The band encourages audiences to dance along and take part and the July 10 show will be a chance for children to come and have a great night too.
``Everyone who grew up with ABBA loves the music and so they introduce it to their children,'' Lesley Watters said
The group has performed together for 13 years and will sing all of Abba's classic hits from Dancing Queen and Waterloo to Mamma Mia.
``We basically sing every song in Mamma Mia the movie, which my four-year-old knows back to front,'' Mrs Watters said.
``We are all friends and enjoy what we do, so we don't think of it as work.''
Abbalanche will be at Castle Hill RSL on Friday, July 10, starting at 7.30pm.
Tickets are $12 for members, $15 for non-members and children under five are free.
