TRANSPORT-STARVED north-western residents are angered by the report last week revealing that the cost of the Rozelle Metro had blown out from $4billion to $7billion.
Wayne Merton, the state MP for Baulkham Hills, said: ``The Rees Labor Government's million-dollar-a-metre rail project is likely to be the biggest transport bungle in NSW history.
``This is a project no one wants, in an area that does not need it and it's a project that was rejected by the Federal Government.
``It is just another disaster from the Rees Labor Government.
``Labor's transport legacy to the people of NSW have included: the North-West rail link promised then axed; the South-West rail link promised then axed; the Parramatta-to-Chatswood rail link reduced to half the distance when the Parramatta link was scrapped, but double the original cost, opened three years late with on-going design bungles; T-card integrated ticketing axed after spending $95million.
``Nathan Rees and David Campbell must admit they got it wrong.
``Axe the Rozelle Metro and direct the funds into the much-needed North-West and South-West rail links.''
