IT WAS a dream come true for three cricket fans when they faced balls from retired Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath last week.
McGrath visited Terry White Chemist Stanhope Gardens on Thursday, November 5, to receive a $11,200 cheque for the McGrath Foundation. His visit was part of the pharmacy's prize for the biggest sum for the McGrath Foundation as part of the launch of Blackmore's Multis Pink Cap campaign.
Pharmacies across Australia decorated their stores pink and held raise cash for the foundation.
The store that raised most money would be visited by Mr McGrath.
Terry White Stanhope Gardens raised $2200 for the charity with donation tins, a health and beauty expo and raffle. Stanhope Gardens shopping centre raised $3000 for the charity on the day of the visit, which was matched by a $3000 donation by the pharmacy and another $3000 from Blackmores.
Mr McGrath and his late wife Jane started the McGrath Foundation to raise money for breast cancer research.
Competition winners Ben Tracey of Stanhope Gardens, Ethan Langdon of Bella Vista and Greg Wilks of Quakers Hill had a chance to face balls from Mr McGrath.
``I sincerely thank the staff and loyal customers of Terry White, Stanhope Gardens for their support of the McGrath Foundation,'' he said.
