Pollies need permission

POLITICIANS are welcome to campaign in Rouse Hill Town Centre provided they behave themselves.

The Shopping Centre Council of Australia, of which the centre is a member, announced recently it was opposed to politicians having automatic access to centres for campaigning.

However, the centre's owner, the GPT Group, said last week it was prepared to consider requests by politicians to campaign there.

GPT Group head of retail Mark Fookes said the group's aim was for customers, retailers, staff and visitors to work or shop without interference or harassment.

``Prior permission from GPT is required for political parties or politicians wishing to access GPT-managed centres,'' he said.

``Permission will be granted on the basis that the activity does not interrupt the operation of the centre, impede access, negatively affect a retailer's rights under a lease, is not intrusive for customers, and space is available.''
