The recently-retired Trickett signed autographs and posed for photos.

``It is so good to give back to the swimming community like this,'' she said.

``To see all the smiles and fun everyone is having is just great.

``While I won't be in the pool at this year's (national) trials, there are so many other outstanding swimmers to watch out for that it's going to be a must-see event.''

Trickett was joined by Rome world championship team member Matt Abood, who took time out from his training schedule to mingle with the kids and offer some handy training tips.

The Australian Swimming Championships will be at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre from Tuesday, March 16 to Sunday, March 21.
