Return to the action

30 Jun, 2009 11:04 AM
NO rain and plenty of open sports grounds saw sports action aplenty return to the Hills on the weekend.

Among the kids happily pulling football boots back on were the Kellyville Rouse Hill Junior Australian Football Club U11s who hosted a match against Westbrook at Bruce Purser Reserve on Sunday.

The home side came up against a determined Westbrook Red outfit who ran the ball freely from the very first bounce.

Kellyville/Rouse Hill put in a good effort they had more scoring shots overall but could not convert the behinds into goals at the vital times due to Westbrook's consistent pressure around the ball.

Kellyville were eventually defeated 1.12 (18) to 5.1 (31).

In other Kellyville games, the U12s enjoyed a massive win over Holroyd Parramatta 10.5 (65) to 0.1 (1), the U13s lost against Western Suburbs 5.4 (34) to 6.15 (51) and the U14s beat St Ives 14.7 (91) to 0.0 (0).

In union, the Rouse Hill Renegades played away against Lane Cove and won a convincing game, 38-17. The day marked a particularly proud milestone for the club, with captain Myk Horua running out for his 50th consecutive Renegades' game.

Second grade also enjoyed a 28-0 win.

The Renegades host Chatswood Rugby Club at Kellyville on Saturday.

Well done on a top effort.
